Kawaguchiko in 3 days: lakeside Mount Fuji views

2026. 09. 01READ 14 MIN

THE ROUTE

Across a lake,
I sleep facing Mt. Fuji.

A 3-day, 2-night trip to Kawaguchiko with breakfast and dinner is much better than a day trip just for the view. The first day was at the station and ropeway, the second day was at the northern lakeside and Chureito, and the last day was at Oshino Hakkai, making it easy to use public transportation.

BEST SEASONApril·NovemberCherry blossoms and autumn leaves, relatively clear view
STAY AREAStation – south of the lakeConvenient transportation and restaurants
PACENormalOne key area per day
KEY TIPMorning view priorityMt. Fuji has a high success rate early in the day.
In Oishi Park, the lake and Mount Fuji are framed in one frame.

THE ICONIC VIEW

At the end of the 398 stairs
completed scene

The Chureito five-story pagoda in Arakurayama Sengen Park is a representative view overlooking Mount Fuji and Fujiyoshida cityscape at once. We planned to visit first in the early morning when visibility was relatively clear, then return to Kawaguchiko Station and follow the Red Line to the Music and Forest Museum and Oishi Park.

Comfortable shoes are required as there are stairs and slopes, and there may be a wait line at the observatory during cherry blossom and maple season. Please check the official timetable for your travel date for the exact departure times of trains and buses.

CLEAR WATER

The last day
Oshino Hakkai

It is a village of eight ponds where the snow and rain that seep into Mt. Fuji pass through the strata over a long period of time and gush out. If you take the bus from Kawaguchiko Station and return to Tokyo, the texture of your trip will change without having to move to a separate accommodation.

WHERE TO STAY

Two ryokans,
Two cost-effective accommodations

Recommendation Conclusion
If you want to enjoy both the view and route on your first trip to Kawaguchiko, Konanso offers the best balance. If the open-air bath in the room itself is your goal, choose Yumedono, if cost and free breakfast are your priorities, choose Toyoko Inn, and if morning buses and station accessibility are most important, choose Station Inn.
