ARC RECORD · VIETNAM
Instead of going further from Da Nang, stay longer in Hue.
If you fit Hue in between trips to Da Nang, it's easy to get back in the car after seeing the palace. This itinerary spends three nights in Hue, separating the royal palace in the city center from the royal tombs on the outskirts. We assumed a trip of two adults who are interested in architecture and history and would like to take a long lunch and rest in between tours. The standard is for flights that arrive at Da Nang Airport before 12:00 noon and depart after 18:00 on the last day. If you use Hue Airport, please adjust the first and last days separately according to domestic transfer conditions.
This is a suggested itinerary based on official tourism and facility data. This is not a direct visit review or real-time reservation quote. Travel times are estimates for planning purposes, and the times below are visit goals set separately from facility business hours.
3 NIGHTS · 4 DAYS
The route I follow one day at a time
From Da Nang Airport to Hue, dinner is near the riverside.
- 01Assuming you arrive at Da Nang Airport before 12:00. After entering the country and picking up our luggage, we will have a quick lunch at the airport.
- 02You will be transferred to your Hue accommodation by pre-booked vehicle. Plan on approximately 2.5–3.5 hours for a direct drive, but this may increase depending on congestion, weather, and rest times.
- 0316:00–17:00 Unpack and aim to arrive at your accommodation. It does not add Hai Van Pass tour or Lang Co Beach to avoid a longer first day trip.
- 04After resting, take a short walk around the Truong Tien Bridge and Huong River that are closest to the accommodation. Dinner is served in the city center without traveling.
If you arrive at the airport late in the afternoon, skip the riverside walk. This itinerary does not consist of a daily round trip between Da Nang and Hue.
The palace in the morning, the market briefly.
- 01Aim to enter the palace around 08:30, but align with the official opening hours on the day of your visit. Allow 2.5–3 hours for the viewing, plus breaks.
- 02We look at the five gates and the main pavilion first, and do not try to fill all the buildings. If there is a construction/restoration area, follow the open circulation route.
- 03Have lunch around 12:00 and briefly visit Dong Ba Market. If the heat is extreme, skip the market and return to your accommodation.
- 04Rest in your room from 14:00–16:00. In the late afternoon, choose a riverside cafe or one nearby meal.
The Royal Palace is a large outdoor ruin. Even if you can use an umbrella, it is difficult to see it as an alternative indoor tourist destination on days when strong rain or flooding is announced.
Two royal tombs with different characteristics are grouped together.
- 01We will use a vehicle with driver to depart the accommodation at 09:00. Minh Mang Tomb → Khai Dinh Tomb The order and waiting time will be agreed upon before departure.
- 02At Minh Mang Tomb, you slowly see the pond and the space arranged along the axis. Allocate about 1.5 hours and set aside breaks.
- 03After lunch, we will head to Khai Dinh Mausoleum and spend about 1 hour there. If going up the stairs is a burden, skip this visit and focus on just one royal tomb.
- 0415:00–16:00 Aim to return to downtown Hue. Even if there is time left, rather than adding another royal tomb, I rest before dinner.
Make sure the vehicle quote includes fuel, parking, waiting, driver meals, and entrance fees. The latest facility admission price and bundle ticket expiration date are based on the information provided at the place of purchase.
After breakfast, return to Da Nang Airport.
- 01After breakfast, we pack up our bags and have coffee near our accommodation. We do not add outlying temples or beaches to your departure date.
- 02If your flight is international after 18:00, plan to depart Hue at 10:30–11:00. Depart earlier depending on road conditions.
- 03Allow at least 3.5 hours and additional time to travel to the airport, and aim to arrive at the airport 3 hours before international flight departure.
- 04If your flight is earlier or bad weather is expected, we will consider alternative options to transfer you to Da Nang for your last night. In this case, we will revise the Hue 3 consecutive night itinerary and accommodation fee together.
Airport travel time is not guaranteed. Please check the airline processing deadline and the vehicle company's estimated turnaround time for the day.
PLAN WITH A REASON
Why travel in this order
Why not visit the palace and royal tombs in one day?
Even if it looks close on the map, the time spent walking and climbing stairs is accumulated for each ruin. If you visit the Royal Palace in the morning and then visit the royal tombs on the outskirts, lunch and rest will be delayed. If you divide it into two days, you can connect the Royal Palace with city life and the Royal Tombs with gardens and architectural appreciation. If historical explanations are important, reduce the number of attractions and allocate time to official commentary or guides.
The accommodation starts from the return route rather than the view.
The city center south of Hue is great for combining dining out with a walk along the river. However, even for the same riverside accommodation, the walking distance to the central commercial district is different. If you plan to return each day for a nap, check first what your transfers will be like between the dinner restaurant and your accommodation. If you choose an out-of-the-way resort, you'll have to turn the walking evening in this article into a car ride.
Adjustment for periods of prolonged rain
Vietnam Tourism Board advises that rain may continue in Hue from late summer to winter and flooding may occur, especially towards the end of the year. As your travel date approaches, check for site openings and road notices. On slightly rainy days, reduce the number of visits, but in controlled situations, it is better to cancel the ruins and riverside walks and stay at your accommodation.
EAT ALONG THE ROUTE
Meals to choose from within the route
DAY 1 · Light dinner
Banh Beo · From small plates
If you're new to Hue local food, compare the banh beo served on a small plate with a variety of snacks. Rather than thinking that one plate is the same as a single meal, ask for the order size and it will be easier to adjust the portion size.
Check the official introduction ↗DAY 2 · After visiting the Royal Palace
Banh khoai — a lunch option
This is a local food featured in the Hue Tourism Office's introduction. Choose a restaurant between the palace and the market for a sit-down lunch. Check the sauce ingredients and portion sizes, and order less if you plan on eating market snacks.
Check the official introduction ↗DAY 2 · After lunch
Dong Ba Market · Separate sightseeing and eating
Rather than making the market an entire meal, leave it as a short visit after a meal. If you don't see the menu you want on site or it's crowded, your schedule won't change even if you just look around. Please check price and order quantity before payment.
Check the official introduction ↗DAY 3 · After visiting the royal tomb
Dinner in the hotel, alternative to reduce travel
A possible candidate would be the dining area at Saigon Morin Hotel. Even if you are not staying, check the available times and reservation conditions first. On days after visiting the royal tombs, it is more practical to sit down and have a meal near your accommodation rather than a restaurant known far away.
Check the official introduction ↗The restaurant is a candidate for your schedule. Please check again at the branch you plan to visit for business availability, reservation availability, and menu prices. Even if the business name is the same, if the location is different, the travel time will be different.

BUDGET WORKSHEET
Calculation example for setting a budget for one person
The total is VND 8,000,000 per person. Assuming a room per night costs VND 1,200,000, per person costs VND 6,800,000, and if it costs VND 3,000,000, it becomes VND 9,500,000. The cost of a car is shared between two adults, and traveling alone increases the burden on one person. The prices in the table are planning apportionments and not estimates or official admission fees.
The above amount is an assumed budget allocation for editorial purposes and is not the inquiry fee for the above hotel or restaurant. Airline tickets, shopping, alcoholic beverages, massages, and additional experiences not allocated separately in the ticket were excluded. Recalculate by reflecting the tax, service charge, breakfast, and cancellation conditions on the reservation screen.
