Fujinomiya is such a waste.
Fujinomiya is a small city that is closest to the mighty Mt. Fuji, but is also naturally connected to shrines, springs, waterfalls, and lakes. Instead of forcing an amusement park or a distant hot spring, we organized it at a pace that could actually be digested over 3 days and 2 nights.
Wherever you’re in the city, you can see Mount Fuji at the end of your line of sight.

Make time for this
Pair the town’s shrine and yakisoba with waterfalls and a lake outing. A longer farm visit can replace Lake Tanuki instead of extending the day.
Arrange the trip around it
Decide whether day two uses a car, taxi or bus. If buses cannot comfortably link the farm, falls and lake, choose two stops using the current timetable and secure the return first.

A flexible countryside day: farm, falls and an optional lake

- 01Use a reserved car or taxi for this full route and confirm waiting and the return. For public buses, use the current timetable to choose two stops rather than assuming all three fit.
- 02Aim for Makaino Farm in the morning after checking opening and activities. Allow around two hours; longer workshops replace the lake stop.
- 03Have lunch at an operating farm restaurant or nearby, checking the product and meal time rather than assuming a buffet is included.
- 04In the afternoon, visit Shiraito Falls and the open Otodome viewing area. Allow for parking, steps and walking; shorten the visit in poor weather.
- 05Optional: continue to Lake Tanuki only if daylight, weather and the return ride allow. Fuji reflections are weather dependent, not a guaranteed final photograph.
- 06Return to Fujinomiya for dinner. With a fixed bus, leave early enough for that service and skip the lake if connections are tight.

At Shiraito Falls
To Lake Tanuki
Shiraito Falls is about 30 minutes by bus from Fujinomiya Station. Mt. Fuji's undercurrent flows down a curved cliff about 20 meters high and 150 meters wide. Afterward, head to Lake Tanuki, where you can get your last view of Mt. Fuji of the day from the lakeside walkway.
Bus timetables may vary depending on the season and day of the week, so please double-check the official timetable just before departure.

If hot springs and kaiseki are the core of your trip, Suikoen Sakura is the place to go, and if you want a room close to the station and a room with a view of Mt. Fuji, Fujikyu Hotel is the place for you. If you prioritize travel efficiency, stay two nights in a row at one accommodation.
